Square Piano by Johannes Pohlman, London 1774

This fine early square piano by Johannes Pohlman - one of the so-called "Twelve Apostles" - has a compass of 5 octaves less 2 notes (GG - f³), with a single action, overhead lever dampers and two levers operating a split sustain. The case is in mahogany with a boxwood line inlay and sits on a trestle stand.

The nameboard inscription reads: "Johannes Pohlman Londini Fecit 1774"

This instrument was restored in our workshops in 2012.
